A novel about a daring young woman, the daughter of a scribe, who strives to become a female scribe 3800 years ago, in the city of Sippar. In order to fulfill her destiny she enters the gagû, and becomes a nadītu.
The novel is based on the spellbinding life of the nadītu, a class of wealthy, monastic women who lived 3800 years ago in Mesopotamia.
